A simple demonstration dynamo model mounted on a wooden base, hand-driven through a gear. Its simplified open-frame construction can be readily understood without losing its essential similarity to a real machine. A 2-pole armature wound with enamelled copper wire rotates within a U-shaped magnet on a pivot. As it is rotated by hand through the gear wheel, the bulb provided glows.
