This electromagnet for the physics lab consists of a mild-steel U-shaped bar of circular cross-section fitted with bobbins wound with heavy-gauge copper wire, the ends ground flat to meet the iron armature. The bobbins are connected so that the direction of winding on each pole is self-evident. Supplied with a carrying hook; works on 4–6 V DC. Length x bar dia (mm): 100 x 12, 150 x 12, 100 x 15, 150 x 15.
