A single knob on the front panel incorporates the mains On/Off switch and gives a temperature range from ambient to 350°C with an arbitrary scale of 0 to 10. A rapid-heat switch allows the higher temperature to be obtained in a shorter time. A lamp provides uniform shadowless illumination of the sample tubes, which are viewed through a 25 mm diameter magnifying lens. A white or dark background can be selected with a control at the rear of the apparatus.
