Description and Specification for Lab Tenders
Separating and Throttling Calorimeter.
The separating calorimeter consists of two concentric chambers — inner and outer — which communicate through an opening at the top. As the steam passes through the metal basket, which has many perforations, the heavier water particles separate from the steam and collect in the chamber. The relatively dry steam in the inner chamber rises and then flows down through the annular space between the two chambers and enters the throttling calorimeter.
Throttling calorimeter: this consists of a fine throat (orifice). Pressure and temperature are measured by a pressure gauge and thermometer. After throttling, the steam passes through a heat exchanger and the condensate is collected. A steam generator is also provided to supply saturated steam at a maximum of 2 kg/cm² pressure, so no furnace is required.
Scope of experimentation:
· To find the dryness fraction of steam
