This consists of a two-piece, near-spherical dome of about 275 mm diameter fixed on top of a large Perspex pipe, with the complete assembly mounted on a sturdy sheet-metal casing. The base also includes an electronic variable-speed control for driving the heavy-duty motor. The larger dome increases the apparatus's charge capacity, resulting in a higher build-up of electric potential, a process accelerated by the larger heavy-duty motor and other design changes. All critical components are adjustable. It comes with a discharger mounted on a long insulated handle — one side hemispherical and the other pointed — to allow an effective demonstration of the lightning conductor.
