These are rectangular tiles all of the same height but with lengths determined by the fraction they represent. When all the fractional pieces of one colour are assembled, they form bars or rows of the same total length, and each tile is marked with the fraction it represents. Placing rows of tiles beneath one another makes it easy to check equivalence.
