Heat Transfer Through Composite Walls

The Heat Transfer Through Composite Walls apparatus is designed to study one-dimensional heat conduction through a composite wall made up of different materials. The setup consists of an electrically heated radiator positioned between two sets of test specimens. Various combinations of sections can be arranged on either side of the radiator to form different composite wall configurations.

A compact hand-operated clamping frame is provided to ensure proper contact between the sections, minimizing contact resistance and ensuring accurate experimental results. The heat input to the system is controlled through a variac, while a digital voltmeter and digital ammeter continuously display the electrical power supplied to the heater.

Heat generated by the radiator flows axially through the composite wall assembly on both sides. Temperature sensors are strategically embedded at the interfaces between the different sections to measure temperature distribution and determine the temperature gradient across the wall structure.

Experiments can be conducted at different heat input levels, allowing students to analyze heat transfer characteristics under varying operating conditions.
