This rheostat is wound with heavily oxidised constantan wire on a vitreous-enamelled steel tube, supported on die-cast ends. There is a heavy-duty sliding contact made of phosphor bronze and nickel-plated for corrosion resistance, plus two 4 mm terminal posts to facilitate external connection with a conventional 4 mm plug.
