Single Cylinder Two Stroke Petrol Engine Test Rig.
Internal-combustion engines are used widely in automotive, domestic and industrial applications. They are classified by cycle, number of cylinders, cylinder arrangement, fuel used, type of ignition, valve arrangement and cooling system. A test rig is used to determine the performance of an IC engine and consists of the engine, a dynamometer, fuel measurement, air-intake measurement and related arrangements.
Scope of experiments:
· To determine brake horsepower
· To determine fuel consumption
· To determine specific fuel consumption
· To determine brake thermal efficiency
Technical details:
· Engine: single-cylinder, two-stroke, air-cooled, hand-start, self-lubricating petrol engine
· Loading — TD-101A rope-brake dynamometer: rope-brake arrangement with the brake drum fitted on the engine shaft and a spring balance; or TD-101B electric-brake dynamometer: the engine coupled to an electrical alternator with a resistance-loading arrangement, with digital voltmeter and ammeter provided
· Fuel measurement: fuel tank, burette and three-way cock arrangement
· Air-intake measurement: air tank fitted with an orifice and water manometer
· Exhaust-gas calorimeter: a stainless steel calorimeter for measuring heat carried away by the exhaust gas, insulated and fitted with thermometers to measure water and gas temperatures
· The complete set-up is well designed and supported on a good-quality painted rigid MS frame
