The Water Vapour Absorption Tester measures the weight of water vapour absorbed by a leather sample. A circular piece of leather is fixed over a cylindrical cavity in a metal container holding distilled water. The test sample is held firmly against the lip of the cavity and allowed to contact the vapour given off by the water for a set period. The gain in weight of the sample due to vapour absorption is determined, from which the water-vapour absorption value is calculated.
