This physics set-up consists of two coils, a constant-current power supply and a Gaussmeter. The Gaussmeter probe rides on a ruled rail so it can be moved smoothly and precisely to map the magnetic field along the central axis of the coils.
The apparatus supports the following studies:
1. Measuring the magnetic field of a single coil and determining its diameter.
2. Demonstrating the superposition of magnetic fields by adding a second coil and varying the separation between the two coils relative to the coil radius.
