Designed mainly for routine school-laboratory microscopy where high magnification is not required. It has a U-shaped (horseshoe) base and a stable, inclinable monocular body with coarse rack-and-pinion movement and light control by disc or iris diaphragm, finished in a plywood cabinet.

The body inclines through 90° with a standard 160 mm tube length. Focusing uses separate coarse and fine knobs (graduated on one side) — coarse by rack and pinion, fine by screw-lever mechanism. The triple revolving nosepiece has a positive click-stop for accurate focusing.

· Stage: fixed square stage, 125 x 125 mm, with clips to hold the slide
· Illumination: 50 mm plano-concave mirror on a gimbal mount
· Objectives: two achromatic objectives, 10x and 40x (SL)
· Eyepieces: two Huygenian eyepieces, 6x, 10x or 15x
· Condenser: sub-stage Abbe condenser, N.A. 1.25, raised and lowered by rack and pinion, with iris diaphragm and filter holder

Magnification combinations: 10x objective with 10x/15x eyepiece gives 100x/150x; 20x objective with 10x/15x eyepiece gives 200x/300x. A fixed-condenser version (model NMRO-0001B) is also available, identical to the above but with the iris diaphragm and condenser fixed below the stage. Packed in a thermobox.
