Accessories for the thin-layer chromatography apparatus:
1. Chromatography cabinet: to introduce the theory and principles of ascending, descending and reverse-phase paper chromatography. Made of wood with glass on all four sides; the top interior surface is wax-coated for solvent resistance. The hinged top is fitted with a rubber gasket for airtight closing, and the window has an airtight door. In the lower portion, heavy castors are provided for easy movement. Finished in natural-colour nitrocellulose lacquer. Supplied as standard equipment are two stainless-steel troughs and six glass rods. For accommodating 4 channel papers of 45 x 57 cm.
2. Special electrical drying cabinet: with inspection window, taking two drying racks for TLC plates up to 20 x 20 cm. The drying cabinet is suitable for activating TLC carrier plates, for drying developed TLC plates and for heating TLC plates sprayed with detecting reagents. The colour reaction can be observed through the viewing window. Temperature range ambient to 250°C. Stainless-steel inner chamber.
3. Desiccator cabinet: used for storing TLC plates and for general laboratory work. Made of thick sheet, with a tight glass door sealed with a rubber gasket. A tray for silica-gel desiccant and a perforated rack are provided. Internal dimensions 30 x 50 x 35 cm.
4. TLC master sheet: for direct reading of Rf values.
5. TLC plate storage cabinet: made of wood with mica on all sides, for transport and storage of coated plates, sealed against air moisture. Suitable for 24 plates of size 20 x 20 cm. Size 38 x 23 x 20 cm.
6. Draining rack: for holding washed plates in an angular position so that water can drop off over the sides of wet plates before coating.
7. Spare brass applicator.
8. Spare aluminium applicator.
9. Spotting template made of Perspex.
10. Plate rack made of anodised aluminium to take ten plates.
11. Plate rack made of stainless steel to take two plates of 20 x 20 cm vertically for developing.
