Ideal for carrying out a wide range of electrophoresis techniques in a very simple way in a single unit. It is therefore an ideal system for teaching and explaining electrophoresis methods at student level. The following techniques can be performed in this mechanism:
1. Horizontal electrophoresis in gels up to 18 x 10 cm.
2. Immunoelectrophoresis in 50 x 50 mm or 75 x 50 mm slides.
3. Isoelectric focusing in 18 x 7 cm gels.
4. Submarine electrophoresis of DNA in a 13 x 7 cm gel.
5. Paper electrophoresis: 3 to 5 strips.
6. Tube gel electrophoresis: 12 tubes.
7. Slab gel electrophoresis: 16 x 14 cm.
The manifold electrophoresis mechanism has four compartments: horizontal section, spacer section, tube-gel section and slab-gel section. It comprises a platinum-electrode assembly (2 nos.), glass plates for a 16 x 14 cm gel (1 set), a Teflon comb 13-well 1.0 mm, spacers 1.0 mm (3 nos.), a clamp and screws (1 set), glass tubes 5.0 mm I.D. 7.5 cm (12 nos.), rubber grommets (12 nos.), a gel-casting stand, an immuno template (1 set), long needles (2 nos.), a lid and a power cord.
