Description and Specification for Lab Tenders
Polyacrlamide Vertical Slab Gel Mechanism, Student.
A very basic apparatus to study proteins, enzymes and nucleotides. These gels are made as slabs and electrophoresis is carried out vertically. This vertical-slab gel mechanism has a cathode chamber at the top and an anode chamber at the base. Polyacrylamide gel is formed in a glass sandwich, and sample cells are made on top using suitable well-forming combs. The cathode chamber is notched to make buffer contact with the gel at the top, while the bottom of the gel is in contact with the anode reservoir. This mechanism runs an 8 x 7 cm gel. Gel can be cast in 0.5, 1.0 or 1.5 mm thickness in this instrument. The student model keeps the buffer cost low. The basic unit comprises a detachable platinum-electrode assembly (2 nos.), glass plates notched and rectangular, a Teflon comb 7 wells 1 mm, spacers 1 mm (3 nos.), a clamp with screw, a fixed gasket, levelling screws and a connecting cord.
