The disc polisher consists of a 20 cm balanced polishing disc mounted on a steel spindle that runs in heavy-duty ball bearings. The disc is easily removable for quick changing of the polishing cloth or paper, which is fastened to the disc by means of a spring or rubber support at its edge. Around the disc is an aluminium drain jacket fitted with a drain tube. The disc speed can be varied continuously from 450 to 1200 rpm. A metal reservoir is also provided for dripping water onto the specimen. The machine is electrically operated, suitable for operation on 220/230 V single-phase AC supply.
