The outer body is made of mild-steel sheet, suitably powder-coated, and the inner chamber of 304-grade stainless-steel sheet. The double-walled door has a clear plexiglass window. A variable-speed orbital shaking platform is fitted with a DC-driven motor for continuous operation. The shaking platform is provided at the base of the incubator to shake Erlenmeyer flasks and can accommodate 16 flasks of 250/500 ml, 25 flasks of 100 ml or 36 flasks of 50 ml (one set of clamps is supplied with the unit). The variable-speed motor is fitted outside the inner chamber at the base. The complete unit is mounted on a sturdy angle-iron frame. A specially designed digital temperature indicator-cum-controller controls the temperature from 5°C above ambient to 70°C, ±1.0°C at 50°C. A safety cut-off device guards against temperature overshoot should the digital controller fail. The unit is fitted with an air-circulation fan for temperature uniformity. Operates on 220/230 V AC supply.
