The gel can be set up in glass tubes. This instrument can be used under controlled temperature for the study of heat-sensitive proteins, isoenzymes, isoelectric focusing and other preparative investigations. It is a conventional system meant for running 8 gel tubes of 10 cm length. Acrylic channels are used to make its round-shape cathode, and the anode-electrode assembly is centrally mounted within the shape, which gives a uniform electrical flow. Three ventilators are provided in the lower buffer reservoir for cool-air circulation. The basic unit comprises an anode reservoir, a cathode reservoir, a platinum-electrode assembly (anode and cathode) (2 nos.), glass tubes 10 cm (24 nos.), silicone-rubber grommets fixed and spare (8 + 8 nos.), rubber bungs (12 nos.), polythene closers (24 nos.), a gel-casting stand, a syringe with needle and a power cord.
